Postgraduate studies “Politics and culture in Asia and Africa” were established in 2005 by the Center for Studies on Non-European Countries, PAS, which in 2010 merged into the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures, PAS. During the 120-hour course, students attend lectures by leading specialists (academics, diplomats, or civil servants) on cultural and political issues in Asia and Africa. The course covers following fields: socio-economic development in Asia and Africa, sources of regional conflicts, human rights condition, civil society organisations, economic and political liberalisation processes, US and EU relations with the regions, roots of terrorism, migration processes, religious and cultural diversity. The course is divided into four regional modules: sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, Indian subcontinent, and the Far East.
